It was a grand showing for the Grand Life Daily (GLD) magazine launch Monday night, and Caribbean Lilac was right there taking it all in. The evening’s event took place at the legendary Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem. As the guests filed in, everyone was treated to an open bar courtesy of the event’s sponsor Pearl Vodka. With a choice of 3 delicious signature drinks, we weren’t going to pass up the offer! Much to our delight, Pearl Vodka also afforded us with courtesy pearl beaded bracelets complete with their trademark logo. We always love jewelry!
After much chatter and introductions, we were finally able to catch up with the magazine’s publisher, the lovely Kia Brown. Even though Grand Life Daily is an online magazine http://www.grandlifedaily.com/, our gracious host handed us a specially printed publication with VH1’s Basketball Wives’ Star, Jennifer Williams gracing the cover. Much to our delight, the magazine was full of catchy articles and beautiful illustrations. Just what we expected from the blog turned full-time online magazine company.
As the evening went on, Sylvia’s lounge was charged with excitement as we waited for the upcoming show. DJ Stud Boogie of Stud Boogie Entertainment, (http://www.studboogie.com/) was pumping out some of the hottest jams and what a variety! With old school tunes and new school flavor, there was a little something for everyone and it was hard for anyone to keep still.
After some brief announcements, the fashion show began… Stacey Angela showed us that crochet is not Grandma’s way of passing the time anymore! Sexy crocheted string bikinis and tankinis hit the catwalk with elegance and style. Crochet is not anything of the past. This is a revolutionary way to create clothing that is attractive and appealing. Stacey Angela’s creativity seemed like it knew no bounds. From a crotchet skirt to crocheted glasses, the possibilities were endless. The light pink, yellow, blue, and green hues in the yarn brought out a feeling of warmth and radiance that reminded me of the islands. There were also many selections that were laced with iridescent yarns that just electrified the runway.
Great job to Grand Life Daily for a wonderful event. Just the right setting, with just the right music, and loads of wonderful and talented people to share the evening with. Stacey Angela really hit a home run with her designs and versatility. Also letting us know that her fashion helps those with epilepsy made it even more special. Fashion for a cause. Awesome job! We look forward to seeing more from these two in the near future.
